The Numbers

Niu released its Q1 2026 scooter sales numbers yesterday, and there is a 29% improvement on a year-on-year basis. Scooter sales improved from 203,000 units in Q1 2025 to 262,000 units in Q1 2026.

The improvement in volumes is driven by the growth in China, which reported 35.5% higher numbers, improving from 183,000 units in Q1 2025 to 248,000 units in Q1 2026.

Niu’s China range is much wider than what it offers in the international markets.

However, the global operations disappointed with a 30% decline, from 20,000 units in Q1 2025 to 14,000 units in Q1 2026. Niu puts that to a strategic realignment that prioritises scooter/motorcycle/moped sales over micro-mobility solutions.

The above data is dispatch data

Note: Niu does not differentiate between e-kick scooter and e-seated scooter sales, so it’s difficult to determine the sales mix. However, the company has been steadily improving its per-unit realization, so we would say that most of the sales are coming from seated scooters, and that too at the premium end.

In 2025, Niu managed to improve its revenue per scooter (mixed, including accessories) from RMB 3615 to RMB 3914.
