Stark Future is one of the rare success stories in electric mobility. The passion-driven manufacturer of motocrossers and dual-purpose motorcycles is already EBITDA positive. It is a constant reminder to us that electric mobility success is all about product and execution, driven by passion.

The brand has now dropped the Stark Varg SM Supermoto, a road-legal machine built on the same architecture as the Varg MX motocrosser (non-street-legal) and the EX Enduro (road-legal). Supermotos are more street-focused and carry more appeal than Enduros in certain markets. The SM is road-legal on both sides of the pond.

Motor

The SM’s specifications are remarkable, considering they continue with the Varg platform. Riders have the choice of power output up to 80 PS / 60 kW. That, on a machine weighing only 124.5 kg, makes this a very entertaining motorcycle.

The SM uses the same carbon–fiber–sleeved motor with an integrated inverter that does the job in the MX and EX. The motor is one of the lightest in the world and revs up to 14,200 rpm, managing to deliver 914 Nm at the rear wheel.

Battery and Charging

Stark’s success has been driven by its obsession with lightweighting. The centerpiece in that effort is the 7.2 kWh honeycomb magnesium battery that doubles as a structural chassis component for extra rigidity. Stark claims a range of 183 km in the urban cycle, 118 km in the suburban cycle, and 81 km in WMTC real-world testing.

Recharging is in under two hours using a 3.3 kW portable charger. Stark says the charger is compact enough to fit in a backpack.

Chassis and Suspension

The SM carries a high-strength steel frame, paired with a forged aluminum subframe, machined triple clamps. Suspension comes from KYB, with fully-adjustable, 48 mm closed-cartridge forks with 290 mm travel. At the rear is a triple-adjuster rear shock with 303 mm travel.

For brakes, the SM uses a single Brembo 4-piston monoblock caliper with a 320 mm floating disc at the front, while the rear is a single 220 mm hydraulic disc.

Practicality

Considering the SM is the most road-oriented of all Stark motorcycles, there is a focus on practicality features. These include a Crawl Mode and Reverse Gear for tight maneuvering. Stark also offers an optional handlebar-mounted handbrake for track use or stunts.

In some markets, Stark is also making the SM available compliant with B-licenses, allowing riders from 16 years and above to ride it. In such markets, the SM comes with a PIN lock to reduce power.

Pricing

Stark has always managed to price its highly specced machines at competitive prices. The Varg SM starts at EUR 12,990 (60 PS/45 kW) and the 80 PS/60 kW Alpha variant is priced at EUR 13,990.

Last month (Sept 2025), Stark raised another funding round with participation from its existing investors. The company said that the funding would be utilized in new product development and expanding the range.
