The year-on-year decline is all due to a collapse in Ola Electric’s numbers. In July 2024, the company had sold 41,802 scooters. In July 2025, Ola Electric could manage 17,848 units of scooters and motorcycles, a dip of 57% in sales.
Everyone else had a good month: TVS remained the market leader with sales of 22,230 units, a 13.1% jump from July 24 sales of 19,655 units.

Bajaj remains the firm number two with sales of 19,650 units, a 10.6% improvement from 17,765 units sold in July 2024.
Ola Electric managed to stay number three in the sales pecking order even though Ather is snapping at its heels. Ather Energy sold 16,231 units in July 2025, a 58.8% jump from July 2024 sales of 10,218 units.

Rounding up the top five is Hero-Vida, which has been on a rip in recent months. July 2025 saw the two-wheeler market leader sell 10,489 units, a 107% jump year over year.
The other brands (202 of them) managed sales of 16,423 units in the month, a 24.9% increase year over year.

Year to Date
On a year-to-date basis, with seven months of the year gone by, Ola Electric is now down 51% over the same period in 2024, 133,126 units vs 270,346 units in the previous year.
In the same period, market leader TVS improved its sales by 51.1%, from 109,957 units to 166,201 units.
Bajaj Auto has done even better with a 92.2% jump in sales, from 84,371 units to 162,184 units.
Ather Energy managed to improve sales by 56% in the first seven months, from 62,642 units to 98,006 units.
However, statistically, the best performance has been of Hero-Vida with a 132% jump in sales from 18,902 units to 43,893 units.
Impact
Ather’s performance is impressive considering that of all the contenders here, the company has the smallest network, an estimated 450 outlets across the country. In comparison, Ola Electric claims a 4,000
Ola also has the widest product portfolio with budget scooters, mass-market scooters, premium scooters, and motorcycles in its portfolio. However, despite that, the company is struggling.
Meanwhile, Ather is focused on a narrow segment of the market – premium performance and premium family scooters, and has managed to grow sales at a healthy pace.
This is characteristic of the Indian market, where the huge market size, combined with a high level of customer satisfaction, can deliver healthy volumes even when you are micro-targeting. However, a bad customer experience can overpower reach and portfolio width.
